About Us

History: Artista Gourmet was founded in 2004 by a team of taste experts with roots in New Orleans and broad experience in the specialty coffee and gourmet packaged goods business. We offer a complete line of syrups to specialty coffee retailers, restaurants, bakeries — anywhere creative food & beverage professionals are found. Artista is distributed throughout the United States, Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, The Phillipines, and several European countries.

Founders: Greg and David Figueroa have been innovative gourmet product developers since their successful introduction of Melinda’s Original Habanero Pepper Sauce in 1989. They were noted among the hottest young entrepreneurs by Entrepreneur, and have grown Melinda’s into one of the country’s top five pepper sauce brands. They introduced America to the habanero pepper, and have been a key catalyst in the popularity of ths fiery pepper in the U.S. The Figueroas have also developed a number of other gourmet brands, icluding private brands for over a hundred companies including the House of Blues, The Hard Rock Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, Joe’s Crab Shack, and New York Burrito.

Jim Tanner is a Dallas entrepreneur with 27 years of experience in the beverage industry. With previous stints with Anheuser-Bush and Jus-Made Beverage, Jim currently serves as Vice President of Sales for iChill and President of Artista Gourmet.

Glenn de Gruy has been a leader in the specialty coffee business since 1994. A successful micro-roaster and specialty coffee retailer, de Gruy has an exceptional knowledge of coffee beverages, product development and the specialty coffee business. He is a founding board member of the New Orleans Coffee Coalition and is very active in the SCAA.
